In this interview, we sit and have a chat with LA-based screenwriter and director Jiwon Lee about the making of her short film "Call for Cassie".
Jiwon tells us about the original idea behind the project : to narrate the life of a woman living abroad, far from her loved ones, who longs for connection with a man, and how she made her idea come to life with the support of a devoted team.
As she is asked for her main tips on making a successful short film, Jiwon emphasises the importance of a supporting team: "make sure to find the right people and to rely on them appropriately." Jiwon's main challenges while shooting were the directing of actors, the intimacy scene (a challenge that was overcome with the support of an intimacy coordinator on set), and the patience and trust with her team.
As a beginning director, she learned many lessons on what good directing is, and we definitely recommend this interview to learn more about this tricky craft.
