"What were you wearing"

A short film by Ijeoma Okochi-Agwu

A special interview made in the context of the Indie-Clips Short Film Festival Catalogue 2024!

In this interview, we sit and chat with humanitarian worker and director Ijeoma Okochi-Agwu about the making of her short film "What were you wearing", a short film exploring rape culture in Africa.

Ijeoma shares her background as a worker in the field of women rights and protection as she takes us through the behind the scenes of her short film, which she wrote, directed, and starred in. Ijeoma's partner was in fact acting as the character who perpetuates the crime in the film, which was a big challenge for the couple on set. Playing such an impactful scene that depicts a rape while being on set proved to be meticulous and difficult for Ijeoma, but this experience also made her grow as a person and a filmmaker.

When asked to share her main piece of advice to independent filmmakers who wish to make a short film exploring the thematic of social change, Ijeoma encourages us as artists to "create for an impact, to spark conversations and transformation".
