Piranha - Elcid Asaei

Haunted by nightmarish visions where he's being chased by feral rioters, a junior banker tries to make it safely to the City for his first day at work, but little does he know that the greatest danger facing him is not from the imagined rioters, but the moral corruption of his individuality in the corporate bubble.

A short film by Screenwriter/Director Elcid Asaei, based in London.

Elcid Asaei Elcid is a self-taught and award winning director, writer and editor. His films crossover experimental and narrative genres, ranging socially-orientated, bold and thought-provoking subject matters. Passionate about visual storytelling, Elcid followed an MA in Film Theory at UCL with a spell in online journalism and photography, before making his filmmaking debut with the short documentary, 'Revolutionary Roads' (2010), which premiered at Sheffield Doc/Fest and went on to win Current TV’s Short Cuts prize. Elcid has since gone on to create a number of visually striking shorts, from ‘PIRANHA’ (2014) to ‘UNSKIN’ (2018), with each project successively more ambitious. In response to the Covid-19 lockdowns, Elcid created a global arts community video diary for creatives to share their voices with each other, and ‘We Are Not Alone’, is shaping up to be a historical and cultural record of the crisis. Elcid also went on to write and direct ‘Lost for Words’, a dramedy short film inspired by and set during the pandemic.
