Unskin - Elcid Asaei

Roger is being interviewed for a career in finance at a major city bank. His interviewer, Jack, ridicules Roger's CV. When Jack notices that Roger had spent years writing a story called 'UNSKIN', he asks him about it, and so Roger begins to recount the tale of a mysterious hooded figure who stalks the city streets, invisible to the public, seeking mortals in need of transformative change.

Unskin is a part experimental, part narrative short film written and directed by Elcid Asaei that unites 4 different stories into one.

We applaud particularly the interesting storytelling, the thorough editing by Elcid and the modern dance scene, which was choreographed by Konstantina Skalionta.

If you wish to know more about the production of Unskin, check out Elcid's interview on indie-clips!

Elcid Asaei Elcid is a self-taught and award winning director, writer and editor. His films crossover experimental and narrative genres, ranging socially-orientated, bold and thought-provoking subject matters. Passionate about visual storytelling, Elcid followed an MA in Film Theory at UCL with a spell in online journalism and photography, before making his filmmaking debut with the short documentary, 'Revolutionary Roads' (2010), which premiered at Sheffield Doc/Fest and went on to win Current TV’s Short Cuts prize. Elcid has since gone on to create a number of visually striking shorts, from ‘PIRANHA’ (2014) to ‘UNSKIN’ (2018), with each project successively more ambitious. In response to the Covid-19 lockdowns, Elcid created a global arts community video diary for creatives to share their voices with each other, and ‘We Are Not Alone’, is shaping up to be a historical and cultural record of the crisis. Elcid also went on to write and direct ‘Lost for Words’, a dramedy short film inspired by and set during the pandemic.
