About the Event

Screen Yorkshire’s Screen Diversity Programme Opens Doors to Film and TV Careers

Screen Yorkshire’s Screen Diversity Programme is offering aspiring film and television professionals an opportunity to gain valuable industry skills through a free, part-time, four-week training course. The upcoming January 2027 intake is designed to support underrepresented individuals in building their knowledge, developing practical skills and exploring behind-the-scenes production roles.

Based in Harrogate, York and North Yorkshire, the programme provides participants with direct insights from industry professionals and an introduction to different stages of the screen production process. No previous experience or qualifications in film and television are required, making it an accessible starting point for those looking to enter the industry.

Most participants can attend the course free of charge, although small fees may apply to individuals already employed within the screen industries. In addition to the training, successful participants will receive six months of one-to-one employability support to help them prepare for work opportunities and take their first steps towards a career in film and television.

To be eligible, applicants must be aged 19 or over, live in York and North Yorkshire, and meet at least one of the programme’s underrepresented identity or characteristic criteria. They must also be available to take on temporary, short-term or full-time employment within six months of completing the course and must not have participated in another Skills Bootcamp during the previous 12 months.

Applications for the January 2027 intake close on Monday, 2 November 2026, at 12 noon. Interested candidates can find further information about eligibility and the application process on the official Screen Yorkshire website.
