ACE Animation Special 2027: Applications Open for International Producers

Deadline: 18 November 2026

ACE Producers has opened applications for the eighth edition of its ACE Animation Special, an intensive workshop designed for experienced independent producers looking to develop their expertise in feature-length and long-form animation. The programme will take place in Dingle, Ireland, from 16 to 21 March 2027, in collaboration with Animation Dingle.

The workshop welcomes producers who want to expand their businesses into animation, as well as those already working in the field who wish to strengthen their skills and build international industry connections. Up to 18 participants will be selected, preferably with an animated feature film or long-form project at the idea or concept stage. Producers without a current project may also apply, provided they demonstrate a clear motivation for participating.

The programme focuses on the creative, financial and practical challenges of animation production. Participants will explore story development and animatics, visual world-building, international co-production workflows, financing strategies, physical line production and international distribution. Sessions will combine group discussions, plenary meetings, one-to-one exchanges with industry professionals and case studies of completed animation projects.

Organised with the support of the Netherlands Film Fund, Screen Ireland and Animation Ireland, the initiative offers a valuable opportunity for producers to gain practical knowledge, exchange experiences with peers and explore new international partnerships.

Who can apply?

Applicants must be owners, partners or associates of an independent film, animation or television production company. They should be ACE members or have a comparable level of professional experience. Producers working on a long-form or feature-length animation project at the idea or concept stage are particularly encouraged to apply.

The participation fee is €2,500, reduced to €2,250 for ACE Network members, excluding VAT. The fee includes accommodation, full board and workshop training; travel costs are not included. Partial scholarships may be available to eligible Irish producers and producers from low-capacity production countries, subject to the selection committee's decision.

Applications close on 18 November 2026. Interested producers can request an application form by emailing specials@ace-producers.com.
