In this interview, we sit and have a chat with recently graduated filmmakers Esteban Longo-Murit, director, and Giovanni Criscenzo, producer of the short film "Pluton n'est pas une Planète", story of a young autistic man navigating through new feelings and steps of his life.
From carefully hand picking the cast and crew for his film to making sure that even the most complex intimate scene went without stress, Esteban took his role of director very seriously in the making of a story that is very important to him.
As the producer of this short film, Giovanni shares his experience of being able to compromise and make a fantastic project be realistically feasible with the means the students had in hands.
As we ask for Esteban's main piece of advice for independent filmmakers on making a short film, the director mentions the idea of taking any criticism, even the worst one, because that can still be of value."
Giovanni insists on the magic word "compromise, compromise" when making a short film with little budget, or working independently.
